We did our first outdoor weekend at Elevate last weekend and it was a lot of fun. Since we didn't have projectors or screens outside I didn't have to do much preparing other than getting supplies for our games and filling up water balloons. The first game we played was called "Launch a water balloon up to the top floor and see if we can scare the people in the book store." Clever name I know. Saturday night it failed miserably, mostly because I didn't try it out before hand, but we definitely scared some folks on Sunday morning. The next game was called "Smear whip cream on someone's face and shoot it off with a Super Soaker." I really need to get more creative on my names. We had two students stand out in the crowd with Cool Whip smeared all over their face and had their partner's clean them off with a water gun. The first one clean got a prize. This game went over really well. This goes to show that whip cream makes any youth group game fun. Jason's message and Andrew's worship went well this weekend too. Although Jason's Dale Earnhood story wasn't as funny to the students as it was to him. Sorry J. I thought it was funny. I think the students liked being outside, it was a good change of scenery. I am going to push for doing Elevate outside more often in the summer.
